Respite Care

The difficulties associated with caring for a loved one

There’s no denying that looking after an unwell or frail loved one is a tough job. In some cases, with enough dedication and commitment, it’s possible to manage without the continuous help of professional care agencies. However, a lesson which many people learn is that caring for someone else in the family can leave very little time for the carer. Families and marriages can begin to suffer from the pressures of constant home care. This can lead to the person being cared for feeling guilty and embarrassed, as if they are an unwanted burden.

Giving you time off from demanding daily care situations

We understand that you may wish to undertake the care of an unwell relative the majority of the time. However, it’s important to give yourself time away. This can be for a few hours to get necessary tasks done, or for a few weeks whilst you take a holiday. It’s obvious that you’ll want to leave your loved one with the most comprehensive care whilst you’re away, and this is where we can help ease matters. With respite care available across a wide timescale, you can have the time you need for yourself without compromising your peace of mind about the safety and care of your loved one. We can offer home care across Aylesbury, Beaconsfield & Marlow.

"As one of the families who have the benefit of your wonderful carers, I would like to say thank you for everything this year. Your carers are very special people and have made our lives much easier. With special mention to Debbie, Britt and Kadi, without whom our family would be in chaos. Thank you."
"I would like to say how very kind and caring your staff are towards my mother, their care is wonderful and she is very fond of both of them. It is a worry for me living 70 miles away but I know she is in good hands."
"We have used Universal Care for almost three years for help with care for my disabled son. The staff are all pleasant and helpful and the office staff do all they can to accommodate our needs. They even send clients a small gift and card at Christmas! They make us feel valued."
"I would like to thank Universal Care for all the help they have given me, first in looking after my husband, and then more recently over the last three months for me. With their professional, friendly and caring attention, I now feel strong enough to manage on my own. I would not hesitate in recommending Universal Care to anyone who is looking for care for a loved one."
"They were extraordinarily professional, caring and efficient, and each of them displayed a wonderful humanity and bond with my father that made his final years peaceful, comfortable, and even blissful. When it came to his passing he was able to do so in his own bed at home in a quiet dignified and relaxed manner."
"I am very pleased with the high standard of care my husband receives. My husband has dementia and is in a wheelchair. It is fair to say that he is difficult, especially for me! Having the carers has made a huge difference to my capacity to cope and survive."
"We were extremely pleased with the thoughtful care and attention shown over the 3 days we required help. She enjoyed having the carer to look after her and we would not hesitate to call on Universal Care again for their services."
"We have been very satisfied and happy with the service. Our current carer is a treasure and we are hoping to see a great deal of her in future."
"I found the response from the office team enthusiastic, coherent and wanting to help immediately. The visit for consultation at my home was very helpful and professional, and a carer was put in place for me on the date and the hour I requested."
