Lindengate is a Buckinghamshire charity that offers gardening facilities and activities to individuals with mental health needs. The charity’s services, known as Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH), use the healing power of nature and the outdoors to improve mental wellbeing, boost self-esteem and social inclusion and encourage long-term recovery where appropriate.
STH is recognised to be beneficial for people with a wide range of mental health needs including anxiety, depression, head injury, autism, memory loss or dementia. In particular, for those with memory loss or dementia, gardening and contact with nature can stimulate deep seated memories and provide a great sense of wellbeing and enjoyment. Lindengate offers a twice monthly drop-in service, Memory Pathways, for people with these needs and their carers.
